Support -> Software update. As you can see l got same problem with my samsung tv,it doesnt update option disabled.Any. Disabled/greyed out settings in the. Ok everyone.here is what you need to know. I just got off the phone with Geek Squad. There is an update available. It is not being pushed to everyone's TVs automatically because if Samsung di d that the ir servers would be brought to their knees.

They have been doing selective or rolling updates. That said, if you contact whomever you have service through they will perform the update remotely. (at least this is what Best Buy Geek Squad just did). You do not lose your calibration settings if done correctly.

The only fix is to completely disconnect the network. (which, of course, makes your smart tv a NOT smart TV) I've not had good experiences with Samsung support.it all depends who you talk to.

One person would just repeat 'reset your tv' over and over even when I explained the situation. I thought I was speaking to a robot for a second.and forget about the 'live chat' it's worthless.it's a bunch of canned responses. Frustrating.especially when Samsung caused the problem in the first place.my advice is to turn off auto-update as soon as they fix this issue.

I too have figured out by myself that if you completly disconnect from the network that the turning on-turning off problem goes away. It's also my observation that it's the only cure. We have seen a post here that states that if you do the total reset as suggested by the moderator that it only holds until you power the tv off and then the problem is back, so that's not a cure for this issue. The bigger question is.

If the only way my tv will work (in a way that i can actually watch it without it restarting every 2-4 mins) is to totally disconnect from the network, then how on earth is the problem ever going to get corrected??? I mean, if i'm disconnected how will new firmware/software get pushed out to my unusable tv???? If i am connected what happens if it restarts itself in the middle of an update. What's Samsung going to do for me, other then take my money and then not provide a coherent plan to get this issue resolved.

Working on it is NOT an answer. If Samsung really wanted to correct this issue, they could have just rolled everyone back to the previous version of firmware/software prior to this bug being introduced into our tv's. Update on previous post. Wait till you hear this.I just discovered that the 'software update' function in 'menu - support' is only active if you are NOT connected to a network. If I connect to a network via LAN or wireless the 'software update' function button is grayed out and if you try to click on it it pps a window that states 'this function not available'. So, if when I'm connected to a network disables the software update feature, how on earth do i get this toxic update off of my tv?? Please read my previous posts.

When I connect to a network, the capability to update the software goes away. When I connect to a network, the 'menu - support - software update' option is grayed out, and if you try to click on it, a window opens that states 'this function is unavailable'. Samsung put me in this pickle with their toxic software update.

How is Samsung going to fix it now??? How do you update the software when the switch to allow it to happen gets turned off whenever your connected to a network? At this point it seems to me that the only way to resolve this is to get me on the phone or send a service person to my house.

Trying to do this forum thing could take days, if not weeks. I don't have the patience for it. I just want my tv to work the way it did prior to the bad update Samsung pushed out to me.

Firmware update option is greyed out on my new Samsung 40' LCD LN40C530F1F Both HDMI's are hooked up and work fine. I also tried hooking up a direct antenna but it made no difference. The software update option is simply not selectable. I popped in my USB and it still wasnt selectable.

I have had plenty of LCD and plasmas and have never seen this problem before. This was an older 40' model on sale, which is the only reason I bought it. I dont buy the newest stuff. If I can't at least check the firmware to see if it is the newest '1010' which I just downloaded, I will probably have to return this TV.

It might not concern me normally, except that I get a 'no connection' message for about 1 second upon turn-on when it tries to find my cable box, and its annoying. It happens EVERY time I turn on the TV. Thought there might be a fix. If I am allowed to post links, this is what I bought last night. Only started setting it up an hour ago. On a side note.

I think the 5 year old 37' Phillips now sitting on my floor has a clearer picture than this one does. But I really hate the speakers on the Phillips, and it is getting old.

I am looking at other 40' options if I have to take this back. Has to be 40' as I mount it to a backboard that is the perfect size. Bedroom also, so don't need any bigger. I don't have an unlimited budget, I was trying to stay under $1000. But I could sneak up a little if i have to. I've never really been big on Sony, but it's been a while since I had one of their TVs. I am no audiophile and I dont care much about calibration stuff.

I just install it, watch it, and enjoy it. That being said, do any of the below really stand out?

I'm not interested in Sharp or Insignia. Came home with this one now. Samsung - 40' Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LED-LCD HDTV Model: UN40C6300SF $1099 It doesnt have the response problem on HDMI that the other one did. But the firmware is still greyed out, so i wont worry about it right now. The picture is INSANE. I didnt know LED would make such a difference.

It really looks like 3D. I can't beleive how different it looks. I am happy with this one for sure. My only problem now. I bought a mount that fit the first TV. This TV's bolts are much further spaced out, so I have to buy another mount kit.

Firmware upgrade option should become available to select usually only if the correct file allocation table's used on USB memory stick + the firmware file resides in specific folder (or root directory) + the specific / correct firmware file is available. If any of these 3 is not fulfilled, it is possible that you will keep getting firmware upgrade option grayed out. Also, an important thing to remember is that firmware upgrade is usually only possible on power-up / start-up (if the USB stick is plunged in.) Boky.

Boky to format my 16gb USB stick, I just went to manage/disk in windows 7 and clicked 'create simple volume'. I think it made it in FAT.

This new one has English. So you copy the entire EXE to your USB drive, THEN you unzip it. I was just moving all the unzipped files to the thumb drive. Then, you also have to leave the USB in 1-2 mins sometimes before the software menu will activate.

So give it time. Im gonna try this now, but i wont be too worried if it doesnt work. NTFS will most likely not work. FAT (most likely) will, or FAT32. People familiar with firmware files, basic ROMs and more complex application-specific applications (ASICs) take it for granted that you can only use raw (.bin format). Not zipped files I should've mentioned it in my first post.

NTFS didnt work either. But it was FAT32 before, and never recognizes an upgrade file. I have now confirmed, the software option becomes available after about 60-90 seconds of putting the USB stick in. So the instructions say to leave the unzipped folder on the thumb drive. But the only thing on the drive is the.exe and a folder. Everything else is inside the folder.

It just didnt recognize any valid firmware to install. I downloaded the newest right off the Samsung website for my model number.
