Using these Bridge Modeling Autodesk® Revit® Extensions, you can generate bridges based on user-defined criteria. Users can define basic parameters of the geometry of a bridge including: a road profile, a deck, abutments, piers and railings.

The road profile may also be imported from a LandXML format file. The bridge is generated based on user-defined families that are provided with these Revit Extensions.

Bridge Modeling Revit Extensions are composed of following modules: Roads and Terrain Definition This extension allows to create road objects and topography in Revit based on data coming from infrastructure oriented sources. Integration with Autodesk® AutoCAD® Civil 3D® This extension provides a bi ‐ directional link between AutoCAD Civil 3D software and Revit to facilitate cooperative workflows between civil engineers and bridge designers. Bridge Definition—Concrete Slab The extension generates entire concrete slab bridge, based on an existing road. Bridge Definition—Concrete Box Girder The extension can be used to create a concrete box girder bridge, based on an existing road. Bridge Definition—Concrete Slab with Girders The extension can be used to create a concrete slab on concrete or steel girders, based on an existing road. Document Generation for Bridges Based on a bridge defined in Revit, this extension automatically generates fundamental documents for the entire bridge. Customization of Bridge Families This extension facilitates the registration of customized families to be subjected to all rules allowing for the automated bridge design process.

About This Version Version 9.0.0, 5/25/2016. I did not tried to import data from civil 3D and maybe this helps modelling a bridge. I tried to make a bridge from scratch. I hope that is why I had so many geometry errors If Autodesk is serious about this extension and about bridge modelling, this extension needs more work. I also believe it should be part of Revit and not just an extension The small amount of built-in families and parameters for modelling a bridge structure says a lot about the knowledge that Autodesk does not have sadly. I wish Autodesk would put the same amount of efforts and resources in ‘bridge modelling’ that they put in ‘building structure modeling’!

I downloaded and installed the bridge module in Civil 3D 2013. Welcome to Autodesk’s AutoCAD Civil 3D Forums. The Bridge Modeler tab will show up. Civil 3D for Project Managers. The Bridge Module* enables modeling of bridges and bridge. *Included with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017 as well as Infrastructure Design. Feb 05, 2018 The Bridge Modeler for Civil 3D 2011 is a Civil 3D add-in module which can create simplified bridges directly from a Civil 3D corridor object.

The graphical user interface ( GUI ) of the extension is very poor and often confusing. Too many parameters and adjustments are separated into categories. The extension does not fit well in Revit because Revit was designed to work with ‘modelling buildings’ NOT ‘modelling bridges’. I'm fairly impressed with the way the Bridge Modeler works when it imports data from Civil 3D, however there appears to be no way to control the haunch depth, which is a deal breaker for me. I understand that the issue with the haunch depth was reported some time prior to the 2015 release, but the fix doesn't seem to be incorporated yet. The bridge modeler creates a mass that includes both the deck and the haunch that appears to be a 'system family' as it is not editable.

So even if you use the bridge modeller to generate geometry, you need to remove the haunches (which you can do), then create new ones from scratch and move all your girders, bearings, abutments up by the amount you needed the haunches reduced. Which of course takes away some of the automation the bridge modeller was designed to provide. I love 'Bridge Modeling Autodesk Revit Extensions' in 'Integration with AutoCAD Civil 3D' after I have worked in over 13 years with Bentley MicroStation, i.a. 2D sheet layouts from 3D model in Revit. However, REX can not shown the stations along alignments created from Civil 3D.

It should be easy to develop this feature because REX already have these information when integrated with Civil 3D. Currently I work around by 'Link CAD' the.alignment.dwg file from Civil 3D in Revit. The problem is the alignments over- and underpass in Civil 3D are created in the same plan Z=0, where as Revit Floor Plans View has a Z-depth direction, which resulted in mismatch of the station line underpass.

It should be note that in Europe we always show the stations along alignments in a bridge project. If there are a method to show the stations in REX directly, or by work around in a better way, I am very happy to know.

Anyone creating 3D bridge structures in C3D? Doing DOT work in Kansas & Missouri and would like to use C3D to model bridges & extract quantities and elevations. One thing I need to include is girder camber to reflect slab depth at a certain point across deck. The girder profile is always different than roadway profile so concrete slab/deck and girders may need to be a separate process.

Just curious if anyone else is doing this and how. Maybe most are using Revit structure?

That Bridge modeler extension does not have the dynamics I am looking for nor does it have the type of structures we use so I would have to build a complex library of families to even begin using that.
